It’s been a long year! 2018 brought an exciting speaking calendar on two continents, including Interaction 18 in Lyon; a workshop at Microsoft’s Office AI Design Days; a workshop and talk at UX London 2018; DEVit 360 in Thessaloniki, Greece; UX Week in San Francisco; a private workshop at BMW in Munich; a workshop and talk at Amuse UX Conference in Budapest; a public workshop in Redmond; and a talk at DesignOps Summit 2018 in New York City.

2019 promises to be just as packed, with three continents on the calendar (and a fourth in planning…) Let’s take a look at the first half of 2019!

FEBRUARY: Interaction 19 (Seattle)

I’ll be giving a brand new 10-minute talk about my personal experiences with digital broadcast communities as seen on Twitch and YouTube.

MARCH: Where No Man Has Gone Before (Seattle)

Not a design talk, but a perennial favorite of mine as a performer over the past 8 years. Our hit improvised parody of Star Trek returns to Emerald City Comic Con this year on Sunday, March 17. Can’t get to ECCC? Join us for two full performances at Unexpected Productions in the Pike Place Market on March 15 and 16 at 8:30 PM. I will be performing in all three shows that weekend.

MARCH: UX Days Seoul

I’ll be headed to South Korea for the first time! This will be the debut of a new talk, “New Solutions to Old Problems: Voice User Interface Design.” Based on my first Medium post, this talk is designed to bring folks new to VUI design up to speed on why voice has become mainstream, how the technology works, and how our design process changes.

APRIL: UX Days Tokyo

Fast on the heels of UX Days Seoul, I’ll come to Japan to repeat that talk and workshop for a new audience.

JUNE: UX Scotland

I’m honored to head to Edinburgh to deliver a keynote for UX Scotland this June. Talk topic is still under negotiation – stay tuned!

My summer/fall calendar is still unfolding, but recent announcements include my first appearance at An Event Apart in Chicago this August (with my new intro-to-VUI talk) plus at least one more major event announcement coming soon.

I’m already in early discussions to book out my 2020 speaking engagements, so feel free to reach out to me at cheryl@ideaplatz.com if you’d like to start the conversation!
